This posting is for an IT Project Analyst/Manager – Advanced position. The primary purpose of this position is to provide program and project management for HR and Finance work related to ConnectCarolina and related applications. This position will work with other Enterprise Applications Project managers and leaders from Enabling Applications, Change Management, University Services, Campus Solutions and other Finance, Office of Sponsored Research, Human Resources and ITS departments including Infrastructure and Operations, Networking, etc. to complete complex projects.
This would include coordinating programs and project planning for various HR, Payroll or Finance projects as assigned using existing or new technologies. Participating in establishing rules, standards, guidelines and policies governing the work process; including quality and quantity of work. Estimating project resource requirements. Determining applications of project management tools and approaches to varying work situations and makes needed adjustments. Motivating staff to do quality work on a timely basis, developing innovative solutions to existing issues/problems, and identifying new technology solutions. Evaluating budget needs and submitting suggested priorities based on program objectives and costs; justifying needs to higher officials; and approving or rejecting expenditures. Communicating to leadership, stakeholders and the project team.
Also, the position provides oversight, direction and support to others in formal or informal Project Management roles. Mentors others in establishing rules, standards, guidelines and policies governing the work process; including quality and quantity of work. Advises in applications of project management tools and approaches to varying work situations and makes needed adjustments.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in IT project management or technical project management related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience using SharePoint, Microsoft Project and JIRA. Excellent people and leadership skills are essential in this role.
The candidate will need to have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Prefer prior experience in a project management role for five years or more working on ERP implementations, upgrades or maintenance in large, complex enterprises such as UNC Chapel Hill.
PMP Certification or Five Years experience as a Project Manager on PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, HR or Finance implementations.
Experience in administering a SharePoint site.
Prior experience working in High Education is preferred.
