The Dining Services department in the Division of Student Life at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Materials Handler at Cafe Evansdale. The Materials Handler is responsible for performing manual and clerical duties for a full range of warehousing services, including receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering materials, equipment and supplies.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Receive, inspect and store all supplies ordered for delivery to Cafe Evansdale, Lyon's Den and Brew and Gold Cafe, as well as WVU Tech's Dining Operation.
Assist with the placement of most orders to vendors, comparing price lists with appropriate vendors.
Write purchase orders, call in orders by phone and fax, and issue stock from computer inventory.
Check invoices against purchase orders, ensuring forms match and making mathematical changes as needed.
Deliver products to various Dining Services locations.
Handle worn out or broken items, surplussing or arranging for repair as appropriate.
Receive small amounts of hazardous waste, pack and label them, contact proper disposal department, and complete all necessary paperwork.
Oversee student workers and assist Lead Workers in meal changes.
Fill in on cash register in the absence of cashier.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Pay Grade: 9
High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least six (6) months of experience with food handling, including receiving and inventory activities
Experience in large-scale food service operation
Knowledge of inventory control theory and application
Basic computing/mathematical skills, including knowledge of standard weights and measures used in food preparation
Valid driver's license
Active Food Handler's Card (within 30 days of hire)
