This opportunity is based in Muscat, Oman with an investment company who specialise in Private Equity, Real Estate, O&G and Public Equity. They are currently conducting a search for a Risk Manager who has strong Private Equity and ERM experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
The role is working directly with the Director of Risk and Compliance.
You will need to ensure that the investment team fully understands the new proposed risk management frame work.
Give suitable training to the investments team in relation to relevant international and local standards with in risk management.
Comprehend the current policies and procedures that are currently implemented and give recommendations on how the ERM framework can help with current process.
Work alongside the investment team to make sure all investments at any time/stage can be risk assessed clearly and easily. Including risk management departmental reviews of all investment documents.
Share any views or concerns at all stages of the investment process in a timely manner.
Delivers technical advice on any issues related to an investment or potential investment to staff as directed.
Make the Director of Risk & Compliance aware of any risks that might appear and make sure that such risks are managed promptly and clearly conversed and documented.
Follow up on all agreed actions and maintain the risk register
Assume full implementation of Risk Identification, Evaluation and Mitigation.
Ensure that all risks are accurately reflected in the departments risk register and that the risk profile is up to date.
Train and conduct regular training workshops with investment staff, alongside new staff joining departments who are vulnerable to external and internal factors.
Work closely with the Compliance Manager to highlight an areas of noncompliance within the funds best practice or industry best practice.
Regularly complete risk reports for the SMT and Executive Committee.
Complete staff evaluations for the risk team
Handles other tasks and assignments as requested by the Director of Risk & Compliance
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, project management or related subject
PMI Program Management Professional (PMP); or equivalent
10+ years of related experience
Fluency in English is essential. Working knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
