The Audience Insights Developer is responsible for developing a comprehensive, 360-degree view of St. Louis Public Radio’s digital and radio audience. Passionate about data analysis, data integrity, and its application to a wider engagement and conversion strategy, the Audience Insights Developer defines and develops studies and analyses which increase St. Louis Public Radio’s knowledge of our audience and their behaviors. The role works closely with team members in content, digital, and fundraising to develop and launch innovative tactics to deepen audience engagement, retention, and donor conversion.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in performing a dual role as both a business intelligence analyst and developer. Experience delivering end-to-end business intelligence solutions is ideal. A strong technical background and knowledge in data architecture and web analytics are required. The person in this position will liaise with senior management and key stakeholders in the content, digital, programming, and fundraising teams to explore and explain key insights into audience behavior.
Use web analytics tools and radio metrics combined with our donor database to gather and report on data needed to develop a comprehensive view of STLPR’s audience;
Extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of sources -- automating as much of this process as feasible;
Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on digital and radio audience and communicate insights;
Provide insight into engagement tactics and flows that are and are not meeting goals and report back to digital, content, and fundraising teams for effective lead generation, segmentation, and building effective customer journeys and profiles;
Provide direction for deepening analytics strategies across STLPR including the identification of partners to improve analytics capabilities or initiatives;
Lead, schedule, and troubleshoot technical implementations, from data definitions to models to end-user reporting;
Maintain data integrity and transparency to increase data confidence across all business units that rely upon data;
Establish STLPR management dashboards to provide actionable and timely business insights;
Establish a STLPR data warehousing strategy and implementation plan;
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field;
2-3 years minimum relevant work experience in business intelligence;
Solid hands-on knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts;
Experience working with multiple data sources and with ETL tools;
Experience with building and growing a new business intelligence reporting system;
Experience with relational databases;
Fluency in SQL;
Deep knowledge of and experience with Google Analytics;
Ability to work effectively across internal departments and with external technology providers, communicating needs and expectations and negotiating priorities.
Working knowledge of BI tools, such as Power BI and Tableau;
Familiarity with predictive modeling;
Experience working with A/B testing tools;
Self-motivated, self-starter with an unflappable attitude;
Ability to present complex information to non-technical staff;
Experience in media industry is a plus.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
