Purpose of Position:
To provide SAP and accounting expertise to the Company’s Project Management function. This position will ensure timely and accurate Project data is recorded in the financial statements and estimated project variances from budget are identified at the earliest possible time in a Project’s lifecycle.
Position Essential Functions:
Teams with the Project Management Office to maintain the Company’s project portfolio financials, including the tracking and reporting for individual Projects and in summary.
Acts as a resource for Project Managers and Department Managers, assisting/guiding in the Project Budget, Forecast and Change Order process throughout the life of the Project.
Develops Work Breakdown Structures (WBS Elements) for Projects and assists Project Managers and Department Managers with Project requisitions.
Ensures timely and accurate Project cost information.
Maintains and develops Project Reports in Microsoft Reporting Services.
Works as a team with IT personnel and the Project Management Office to design, configure, and implement enhancements to the Project reporting process.
Works with the Project Manager to setup the coding structure for the Project, ensuring new Projects are set up in accordance with company policies and any applicable third party contractual obligations.
Reviews Project costs to ensure proper coding of transactions.
Reconciles Project Reports in Microsoft Reporting Services with SAP Project Systems. Investigates and resolves any variances.
Assists Project Managers with reporting to respective steering/oversight committees.
Reviews status of vendor contracts with management, follows up accordingly, and assists the Project Manager with compliance with vendor contract terms and conditions.
Assists Project Managers with reconciling third party (contractor) budgets to actual costs and status of services/goods receipts against budget.
Ensures Project costs comply with the application of generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and company policies.
Teams with Project Managers to identify and provide early warning for Project variances.
Assists Project Managers with the financial aspects of Project Close-Out Reports.
Teams with the Project Management Office to develop and implement Project Metrics and to identify Portfolio Management trends.
Coordinates with the Project Management Office and Engineering team on large Engineering Projects.
Coordinates with the Project Management Office and the Budget and Finance team with the year-end Budget roll-forward process.
Provides guidance to the Project Management Office regarding Capital vs. O&M decisions.
Coordinates with Project Management Office and the Budget and Finance team with budget and forecasting processes.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with outside industry contacts and businesses to stay current with developing trends and best practices in Project accounting and reporting.
Assists with special Projects as assigned.
Supports Company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
BA degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum five years accounting/finance experience is required. Public accounting experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of SAP FICO module.
Strong SAP Project Systems experience including understanding of SAP Supply Chain as it relates to Project Systems strongly preferred.

Additional Salary Information: Salary Range: $65,250-$79,950-$94,600 (Grade 19) depending on qualifications or $77,450-$94,900-$112,300 (Grade 21) depending on qualifications
