Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered, a minority-owned, professional consulting engineering services firm headquartered in Washington, DC, currently has an excellent opportunity for a talented and energetic, Electrical Engineer. This is an entry level position for a candidate who has recently or is in the process of obtaining an electrical engineering degree. The preferred candidate should be familiar with wastewater treatment and conveyance systems and the associated electrical and mechanical systems. Work duties involve activities associated with the repair, replacement, overhaul and upgrade of the typical equipment systems associated with wastewater treatment. Must be able to review electrical drawing and specifications for operability and maintenance compliance. A fundamental understanding of Programmable controls and standard control logic is required. Job Responsibilities: Candidate should be familiar with standard electrical and control concepts, practices, and procedures. Works under general supervision but requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals. Reviews detailed design work for equipment installation and facility projects. Reviews final plans, specifications, and special conditions to insure proposed installation meets expectations. Monitors the progress of construction projects. Reviews the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks for electrical equipment and their systems and provides feedback to improve work order job plans and maintenance procedures. Evaluates the testing of electrical equipment and systems in accordance with applicable procedures and guidelines. Surveys sites, recommends corrective measures. Participates in design reviews, workshops, and special projects as assigned. Serves as a subject matter expert on a wide variety of electrical and powered equipment systems including Variable Frequency Drives, Motor Control Centers, and SMART MCC's. Has a familiarity with the NEC, typical electrical safety, Lockout tag-out, and Arc Flash. Performs other duties, tasks and projects as assigned at the discretion of the supervisor or manager.
Requirements: A BS degree in Electrical Engineering or other combination of education and experience which provides preparation to do electrical engineering work is preferred. An Associate Degree in Industrial electrical/electronic related field with a minimum 3 years' work related experience will be considered. Candidate must be able to demonstrate skills and abilities to utilize standard office management systems including computers, scanners, copiers, printers and software. Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, & Power Point. Ability to write clear, understandable, and professional maintenance procedures, letters, memos and reports. Ability to work as a team member in a diverse workforce. Knowledge of typical Electrical Control Structure as it pertains to the operation of standard industrial equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematic and blueprints. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical principles related to multi-component assemblies and devices.
