Advertised Summary Job Description: The Department of Computer Science in The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) is seeking a highly qualified and talented individual to serve as its Executive Director of Information Technology. The Executive Director of Information Technology is responsible for the management and direction of all aspects of technology for the Department of Computer Science. The Executive Director works in close collaboration with the Director of Finance and Administration, department Faculty, and staff to develop the strategic direction and to lead the implementation of IT plans to support research projects, classes, hardware and software needs, end user support, web design, and application development. The Executive Director establishes productive working relationships across a wide variety of individuals and groups, both internally and externally. The Executive Director provides intellectual and strategic leadership in the areas of IT infrastructure design, delivery of IT services, and leveraging of technology to enhance research and pedagogy and to align IT initiatives with the overall goals and strategies of the department and of SEAS. The Executive Director manages the IT budget and provides supervision for a full time staff of 4 in the Computer Research Group.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, from a regionally accredited college or university
A minimum of 7-9 years of experience managing comprehensive I/T operations and services; experience with higher education enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions, high education business process, business analytics, and data warehousing.
Experience in the delivery of user support for a diverse research environment. This includes everything from printers and desktops to large-scale research computing infrastructure.
Strong expertise in core information technology issues including, but not limit to, storage and backup solutions, software and hardware, software licensing, networking, and network security. Experience working in various operating systems including Windows, OS X, Linux and mobile platforms.
Experience in technical planning including data center and related issues such as power and cooling. Experience in network infrastructure and networking protocol. Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, LDAP and Windows Domain Controller.
Experience in working with vendors including negotiate for contracts and large purchases.
Programming/development capabilities in advanced languages such as Java, C , PHP, Python.
Must be able to lift 30-40 lbs over head
Weekend hours may be needed

Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in managing and leading diverse personnel, including team building, cultural sensitivity, conflict resolution and team projects.
Ability to inspire technical team in a fast-paced, diverse work environment.
Demonstrated ability to foster open communication; adhering to principles of trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
Effective interaction with diverse students, staff, faculty, and administrators, individually and as team members.
Use of independent judgment in the interpretation and application of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree strongly preferred in Computer Science.
