The Logistics Sales Specialist will find and develop new transportation and warehouse business by identifying potential prospects and opportunities in the marketplace, investigating their current logistics solutions, designing creative new solutions to improve costs and competitiveness, and communicating those solutions to the prospects. The role will require internal drive to deliver impact and results.
• This position is a full-time, long-term assignment, with the opportunity to advance into Sales Management, and/or Customer Service Management. • Requires approx. 50% of time in office and 50% out of office sales and sales prospecting. • Territory is primarily Wichita and Kansas, but also regionally in the heartland of the U.S. • Pay Rate: up to $5,000/month, plus comprehensive benefit package.
REQUIREMENTS Education, Experience, Aptitude and Character Minimum four (4) years’ experience in transportation, logistics, retail, industrial or service sales or appropriate educational background.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Market and sell truckload (TL) transportation solutions and warehouse services. • Identify new prospective accounts, follow up on website inquiries and other leads, initiate contact with decision-makers, identify needs and fit with United service offering, create proposals, negotiate agreements, close sales. • Build and nurture relationships and grow sales with existing clients. • Communicate with sales team and management on goal-setting and performance. • Communicate the new customer requirements to the operational team and coordinate the setup of the new customer’s account, items, and service requirements. • Reports on new prospect status and details for sales pipeline analysis and forecasting.
Other sales-related duties: • Works with UWC Transportation to book loads tendered from customers, trace loads as needed and handle any other related duties. • Tracks sales activity and sales results using online team Sharepoint site, sales calendar and pipeline spreadsheet tools. • Maintain documentation of sales activities, proposals and service agreements, account and contact details, service costing calculations, and other sales activities, including related expenses. • Maintain awareness of competitor’s sales efforts and programs in the industry and the territory. • Attend trade shows and industry conventions as requested by management. • Attend sales training as requested by management.
