OTS is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Lead. Incumbent's role is to strategically design and implement BI software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses. This includes selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing and rolling out BI solutions to end users. The Business Intelligence Lead is also responsible for working with other OTS resources to ensure high levels of BI availability through support functions and in-depth testing.
The Business Intelligence Lead assess and cultivates long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients and other stakeholders; work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new information technologies, particularly in the areas of BI, analytics and data warehousing; works with different business units to align the business and IT; promotes BI program.
This position conducts research and makes recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts; evaluates database/data warehouse components, including relational database management systems, ETL software, metadata management tools, and database design solutions; champions and educates the team on industry trends and best practices. Leads projects in the implementation and use of new BI software tools and systems; leads the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications. Designs, codes, tests and documents all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs. Develops the semantic layer, metadata, report, and report definitions; develops graphs and portal interfaces. Assists in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions. Analyzes user requirements and, based on findings, designs functional specifications for BI front-end applications. Produces ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system. Works with project managers to ensure that data entry, retrieval, change and delete functions meet business requirements for project completion. Conducts job duties and responsibilities according to the organization’s business systems development methodology and/or its Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. Designs and delivers end-user training and training materials; provides technical support as necessary. Works with other OTS resources to troubleshoot BI tools, systems and software; performance-tunes these applications as necessary. Acts as evangelist for BI benefits across the organization; promotes BI usage to relevant departments. Mentors and/or provides leadership to junior members of the team. Ensures change management practices conform to organization-wide standards. Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads and end users regarding information-based decision-making. Serves on campus committees as necessary; promotes the activities and efforts of Information Systems. Educates the campus community in technology issues, problems, and strategies; conducts information gathering dialogues with customers.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of related experience. Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling. Strong ability to analyze user requirements and build front-end BI applications according to specifications. Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles and practices. Full project management and development life cycle experience. Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytic and diagnostic skills. Ability to work independently and to work with others. Able to prioritize and execute tasks. Any experience with Informatica, Oracle databases, PeopleSoft, Salesforce and other cloud applications are preferred.
