Incumbent serves as Enterprise System Project Director within the Program Management and Business Integration PMO Office (PMBI) --- a division of Business & Financial Services (BFS). This position works in collaboration with centralized operations such as ITS, Staff HR, APO, Medical Center(s), UCOP, and vendors & consultants to implement UCPath and other Enterprise Projects at UC San Diego. Incumbent establishes best practices and strategy implementation of the BTOp office for systemwide and major UC San Diego Projects.
This position will focus on developing the campus implementation plan, schedules, metrics and other project management tools, for execution of the plan, and will monitor progress to ensure a successful implementation. Incumbent directs the activities of highly matrix teams responsible for the various work streams integral to Enterprise Projects.
The position will also be responsible for the stand up and operations of the PMBI to scale, and serve other projects. This includes aligning BTOp's portfolio of campus programs and projects with the executive vision and strategy; portfolio management and leading the analysis, design and development of processes and activities which support our business and deliver quality Program/Project Management Services.
Incumbent uses experience and ample skill in building dedication and commitment to the project on the part of many subject matter experts from throughout UC San Diego, whose primary responsibilities are outside the scope of the project and whose primary reporting responsibility is to persons who have no reporting relationship to the Project Director.
This position ensures that defined project milestones are met, even as priorities are likely to shift frequently and anticipated workloads grow or shrink on a daily basis. Maintains multiple channels of communication simultaneously which is critical to the success of the Project.
Administratively, the position reports to the Executive Director of Business Transformation and Optimization, who will support and evaluate the performance of the Project Director. The Project Director will report and be accountable to the Project Functional Leadership Group, in terms of day-to-day progress and resource application of the project.
The Project Director may be called upon to travel occasionally to consult with colleagues at other locations and/or Office of the President.
Frequent effort beyond what may be considered a normal workweek are very likely to be required for the success of this project.

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Operations Research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience
