Summary The QA Manager manages food safety activities and programs related to compliance, training, and guidance for operational company elements of Performance Food Group; Corporate Recall Coordinator; Manages the Safety and Quality of Branded programs. Conduit with the supplier community at the plant and production level; Conducts supplier audits; Develops and Codifies product specifications. Provides compliance for branded products; Supports and acts as liaison with National Account Food Safety Organizations. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities The Quality Assurance Manager position will perform the following duties: • Technical Specification development; Coordinate with suppliers to engineer safe quality branded products; work with supplier R&D to develop quality branded products that are consistently manufactured to maintain the integrity of the brand. • Manage plant audit process; Facilitate the process to approve suppliers as a safe and quality source of supply; conduct on -site audits of suppliers’ food safety, quality control, and sanitation programs to ensure branded products are manufactured in a safe and sanitary manner in keeping with regulatory and industry standards. • Branded Product Compliance; Manage program compliance in coordination with Category Managers to ensure continual manufacture of products to specific specification and to protect the financial interests PFG; Ensure branded products are compliant to established technical product specifications through testing and evaluation. • Regulatory Compliance; Provide and develop programs and associated training to maintain regulatory compliance at all levels of government; Verify compliance through on-site audits of operating companies. • Provide Food Safety Council; Support to PFG Operating Companies in food safety and sanitation - oversee recalls, establishes food safety protocols, maintain 3rd party qualification, ensures eligibility for national accounts. • Supplier Liaison; Continuous coordination and communication with supplier quality assurance and plant management to effect continuous process improvement & quality controls; Representation; Represents PFG at professional trade associations and technical committees. • Food Safety Training; Provide expertise and training to PFG associates in product functionality/design & safety (HACCP). • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related area • 4-6 years of experience in food safety activities and programs, including at least 3 years in the warehousing industry • Certification Required: Certified Professional Food Safety (CPFS), ServSafe Food Protection, HACCP or Certified • Self-starter that can transform minimal guidance into effective results • Able to work independently and confident in making independent decisions • Able to interpret and analyze statistical process information • Computer literate with current software programs and applications
Preferred Qualifications: • Masters in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Food Science and Technology or related area • 6-10 years of experience in food safety activities and programs in foodservice, warehousing and distribution environments
