The Center for Vaccine Development (CVD) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seeking a Statistican to assist in the management and analysis of datasets from diverse projects across the CVD. The incumbent will also assist in analyses for planned, in process, and completed studies, and will be called upon to research methods and assumptions related to analyses. As such, formal training in epidemiologic/clinical study design and familiarity with health sciences is desired. International travel to study sites and meetings may be required.

Perform required data extraction through programming and report on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects for stakeholders. Duties include performing and supervising data collection; compile and analyze data; and interpretation of trends, fluctuations, and other changes.
Determine methods of statistical analysis and apply techniques to determine means of measurement. Ensure validity and accuracy of data and compliance with quality control requirements to include data cleaning, database maintenance, table creation, and figure development.
Design and remodel quantitative research projects, analyze findings, develop conclusions, write reports, prepare presentations of relevant findings and conclusions, and recommend appropriate actions department.
Perform simple and sophisticated data searches and exchanges among micro, mini, and mainframe-based statistical software applications to generate standard and customized reports using statistical applications.
Summarize, prepare, and collaborate on manuscripts, presentations, and proposals by providing and presenting statistical information as tables, charts, or graphs.
Develop and formulate best practices and protocols in data collection, warehousing, analysis, and reporting including developing special forms and/or formats for analyzing and presenting data.
Serve as an expert resource in statistical programming package of choice
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Master's degree Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or Public Health.
Experience: Three (3) years of statistical analysis experience analyzing studies using a range of statistical techniques in a related environment.
Preferred: Ph.D is preferred.

Possess knowledge of statistical analysis, theoretical, conceptual and writing support on research analysis and findings. Ability to understand and utilizes scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications. Skilled in using measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments. Skill in the effective use of technology. Ability to maintain productivity. Skill in the use of statistical programming using SAS, Stata, SPSS, or R. Ability to troubleshoot code and statistical problems independently.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to understand written information and is able to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding. Ability to clearly explain statistical and data management concepts to both statistical experts and laypeople

Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Ability to interact pleasantly and positively with other to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers.
