Position Summary: Responsible for managing all aspects of municipal project work from inception to conclusion in a timely, safe and profitable manner. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages multiple projects according to contract specifications, Company policies, procedures and safety requirements to ensure compliance.
Estimates water, wastewater, and collection system projects.
Communicates with both internal team and external customers on the status of projects and any future requirements.
Responsible for the creation and execution of operational plans to ensure project success, including permitting, material and equipment procurement, labor management, quality control, safety analysis, scheduling, etc.
Documents and communicates project status, performance, improvements and change orders through to completion of each project.
Represents the Company in project/client meetings, when necessary, providing skilled technical project advice and recommendations.
Responsible to acquire, set-up, and manage subcontractor(s) needed for projects including writing scopes of work and executing subcontract agreements.
Ensures all project activities progress according to pre-determined schedule.
Performs site visits and monitor all progress of each job.
Understands materials and equipment used in the industry.
Acts as a role model and leader within and outside of the department.
Mentors and trains assistant project managers, assistant superintendents and superintendents.
Acts as a mentor to other departments within the organization to share knowledge and experience with others.
Demonstrates and models strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations.
Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
Adheres to company policies and procedures.
Is dependable and accountable for actions.
Has excellent organizational skills and initiative to improve processes.
Communicates regularly Department Director, Superintendent and Sr. Project Managers.
Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to work independently and prioritize work.
Maintains knowledge of industry trends and helps ensure company's compliance.
Job Skills, Ability and Experience
Must have at least 3 years experience working in municipal water and wastewater collection projects as a Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
Post secondary degree in related subject preferred.
Experience managing self performed projects between 1-5 million.
Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
Proficiency in the use of technology in an office environment.
Must be willing to travel extensively.
Must be able to write reasonably detailed reports and supporting documentation.
Must have good understanding of construction and trades, and the ability to work in a professional manner with subcontractors and store management.
