The Project Manager – Achieving Excellence manages small to large-scale Achieving Excellence projects and multi-project initiatives utilizing GHS standardized Project Management Methodology (PMM), system-wide project management system (Planview) and industry best practices. Works collaboratively with project stakeholders and functional managers to develop project goals and objectives, sets project timelines, and controls scope. Manages multiple projects concurrently, and manages project change and interventions to achieve strategic Achieving Excellence objectives in conjunction with Operations and key colleagues (in particular Lean Change Agents tasked with concurrent implementation of Lean-based tools to eliminate process waste and improve process value to patients, members and providers). Responsible for aligning data analytics resources and managing project artifacts. Leads project teams in collaboration with Achieving Excellence and functional area leadership, to execute project plans and achieve project goals and objectives on time and within budget. Reports and appropriately escalates project progress and issues to stakeholders and Achieving Excellence leadership. Major duties and responsibilities include:
*1. Develops wok plans for discrete projects and multi-project initiatives.
*2. Facilitates process standardization and best practice identification and scaling.
*3. Manages work to meet project milestones through task management, consistent follow through, relationship management and creative organizational problem solving. *4. Assembles project teams, establishes authority as project manager, gains consensus, develops and effectively communicates a clear understanding of project scope, objectives, mandates, timeframe, budget and other project requirements. *5. Ensures project requirements, constraints, and assumptions are defined, documented, and effectively communicated in order to establish the project deliverables using requirements gathering techniques (e.g., planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups). *6. Ensures realistic labor and cost estimates are applied to project activities and tasks in support of project plan and schedule developments. *7. Manage changes to project scope, schedule and costs using appropriate verification techniques so as to keep project plans accurate and reflective of authorized project changes. *8. Maintains, documents, and communicates scope and schedule variances to plan to leadership as appropriate and per the communications plan. *9. Manages project risks through facilitating pro-active risk identification and management and ensuring appropriate contingency plans are developed and implemented to minimize the probability of and/or impact to projects. *10. Organizes, manages and directs project team tasks to assure proper application of project management standards, best practices, tools, and methodologies in project work.
*11. Establishes and executes a communications plan meeting the needs of each project, including status meetings, status reports, change management, resource needs and issue escalation.
*12. Creates agendas, ensures the capture of minutes, and conducts meetings in an effective and efficient manner.
*13. Collects status information regularly from the project teams and maintains visibility to overall project status for stakeholders and Achieving Excellence leadership.
*14. Clearly, succinctly and persuasively communicates strategies, specific solutions and analyses in a way that is appropriately targeted to audience. *15. Promotes internal spread of information, knowledge and best practices.
Process and Relationship Management
*16. Establishes and manages relationships to achieve targeted outcomes by engaging staff and leadership. *17. Documents work products and methodologies to enable knowledge transfer. *18. Fosters collaboration and accountability at the unit level, and in conjunction with deployment and knowledge transfer of Lean methodology and tools.
*19. Works with Finance to develop and document financial estimates per project.
*20. Works with Enterprise Information Management to define, test, validate and populate key performance indicators (KPIs) for A3s, dashboards and scorecards, and ensures KPI approval by Achieving Excellence Leadership.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Healthcare or Information Systems required. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum two years related healthcare experience required.
- Requires qualification in project management or equivalent knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management. Knowledge of project management techniques and tools. People management and ability to be influential to reach desired results.
- Expert user of MS Project, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint required along with strong analytical and presentation skills.
