The University of Tennessee System Administration (UTSA) Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applications for the position of IT Software Developer within the Business Intelligence (BI) team with a focus on SAP BW. The BI team facilitates the use of information for improved decision making throughout the University system. An overview of the responsibilities and qualifications for the IT Software Developer position are listed below.
JOB SUMMARY: This position will require the successful candidate to engineer business intelligence systems with particular focus on SAP BW. The candidate will employ technical, analytical, project management, and customer service skills to specify, design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain information systems that support business intelligence efforts. The candidate will also interact with, train, provide technical support to, and resolve issues for end users.
Additionally, the position will require learning about data and processes in various functional areas of the university such as student, finance, HR, research, facilities, alumni & development, and outreach & engagement. It will require constant learning of both technical and non-technical tools, techniques, and processes.
We seek an individual who is capable of supporting our existing SAP BW infrastructure but who is also excited about and capable of helping build our next generation BI platform with Microsoft technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specifying, designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining business intelligence related information systems with large (e.g. enterprise/university-wide) user bases.
Learning to use new tools and techniques such as new programming languages, new applications, new statistical methods, etc.
Supporting teammates by contributing ideas and perspectives, utilizing project management techniques, being flexible to changes in plans, and respecting the value of others and their contributions.
Providing training and service to technical and non-technical staff.

Knowledge of and experience supporting SAP BW, including workflows, process chains, DSOs, BEX queries, cubes, portal, etc.
Knowledge of SAP's plans regarding HANA.
Strong understanding of relational database concepts, including schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
Ability to read, understand, and write SQL, including DML (select, insert, update, delete statements) and DDL (create, alter, drop statements).
Ability to read, understand, and write at least one other programming language.
Basic understanding of project management concepts.
Ability to learn and understand business processes employed in functional areas of the university.
Ability to utilize common productivity software such as Microsoft Office applications.
Organization, communication, analysis, and troubleshooting skills.
Experience working in higher education, non-profit, or government, particularly in large organizations with multiple sites.
Knowledge of extract-transform-load processes and technologies, particularly SAP extractors and Microsoft SSIS.
Experience working with large enterprise information systems (particularly Banner and SAP).
Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and knowledge of Transact-SQL.
Experience designing and developing data models.
Knowledge of data warehousing, data discovery, data governance, and/or data stewardship concepts.
Understanding of business processes in one or more of the following areas: student, finance, HR, research, outreach & engagement, alumni & development, or facilities.
Knowledge of reporting systems
Knowledge of matrix algebra, set theory, discrete mathematics, graph theory, or statistics, particularly as applied to data analysis.
