Under thedirection of the Director of Project Management and Operational Excellence(PMOE), the Senior Project Manager assumes primary responsibility for thesuccessful implementation and management of projects for the Cook County Healthand Hospitals System (CCHHS), with particular emphasis for leading andfacilitating clinical and operational redesign initiatives to improve ormaintain quality of care, patient experience, and clinical operationalefficiency. Leverages staff expertise todevelop and deliver the interoperable schedules, budgets, deliverables,communication plans, risk logs, issues logs, status reports, and performancemetrics from concept through completion of the project. Coordinates the efforts of team members andthird-party contractors and/or consultants to deliver projects on time and meetingbudget requirements.
Oversees multipleprojects within the organization. Planschange management tasks required for the business to accept, adapt and supportinitiatives including effective communication, adequate training anddocumentation. Projects may includeevaluation of CCHHS's internal processes to continuously identify improvementand transformation opportunities. The Senior Project Manager will focus onprojects required to implement the Chief Executive Officer's vision and buildthe critical business capabilities for CCHHS.
This position is exempt from CareerService under the CCHHS Personnel Rules.
Managescomplex projects, creates project plans, schedules, budgets, deliverables,communication plans, risk logs, issues logs, status reports, and performancemetrics from concept through completion of the project.
Implementsrisk management plans which include identification, impact analysis, resolutionand tracking activities along with proper documentation and communication.
Effectivelycommunicates with sponsors, stakeholders, and the project team.
Leadsand manages multiple project teams involved with improving processes for CookCounty Health and Hospitals Systems, with an emphasis on clinical processimprovement
Collaborateswith medical and nursing leadership and works closely with leaders in Financeto implement plans for clinical care redesign.
Establishes/embedsbest clinical and operational practices incollaborations with clinical and operational teams.
Workswith hospital-based services to identify and implement high functioning,role-based workflows.
Fostersa culture of continuous improvement and patient-centered care with clinicleadership through the provision of training in the use of data and otherskills associated with process improvement.
Teachesand helps assigned clinic staff to use the Plan, Do, Study and Act (PDSA)process (or similar quality improvement model) to focus on overall practicetransformation and stronger clinical management.
Usingstandard dashboards, tracks the progress of hospital-based services inachieving performance target(s). Reviewsperformance data and trends with managers and identifies activities needed tosupport achieving pre-defined goals, maintaining and communicating thedashboard for the hospital-based services.
Ensuresprograms are implemented consistent with their designs and support staff andleadership in their effective implementation of programs.
Managesday-to-day operational aspects of each project and ensures projectdocumentation is accurate and complete.
Planschange management tasks required to accept, adapt and support the initiativeincluding effective communication, adequate training and documentation.
Incorporatesbest practices, internal policies, security and regulatory policies into theproject as needed.
Understandsand prepares process capacity, capability and gap analysis summaries.
Mayperform other work related to the project as assigned, including deliveringinformation presentations as needed.
Reportsto the Director of Project Management and Operational Excellence
Bachelor'sdegree from an accredited college or university is required.(Must provideofficial transcripts at time of interview).
Five (5) years of full-time paid work experience inhealthcare administration or project management is required.
One (1) year of full-time paid work experienceutilizing MS Project or a comparable tool isrequired.
Two (2) years of healthcare experience facilitatingclinical quality improvement initiatives in a teaching hospital is required.
LeanSix Sigma Training or Certification isrequired. (Must provide proof of certification at time of interview.)
Master'sdegree in Business Administration or Public Policy is preferred. (Must provide official transcript at time of interview)
Courseworkin healthcare administration or medical office management is preferred.
Knowledgeand experience with Joint Commission requirements is preferred.
Certifiedas a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in ProjectManagement (CAPM) is preferred. (Must provide proof of certification at time of interview)
Certificationin healthcare quality and/or patient safety is preferred. (Must provide proof of certification at time of interview)
Financeexperience is preferred.
Priorexperience driving change in a complex organization is preferred.

Thoroughknowledge of project management techniques including experience with planningand tracking scope, time and budget associated with the project.

Abilityto work independently and simultaneously manage multiple complex projects atdifferent phases.
Abilityto analyze and solve complex problems using a variety of research andanalytical techniques.
Abilityto manage a variety of project teams, including project teams comprised ofinternal employees, vendors, consultants, and combinations thereof.
Willingnessto work extended hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
