Responsible for the leadership, management, and control of one or more highly complex or university wide programs which may consist of
multiple projects with many integration points. Provides oversight and leadership to the development of project
estimates, plans, resources and controls throughout the project lifecycle. Delivers key communications and regular
updates to IT and University-wide stakeholders on all components of multifaceted and complex projects.
The incumbent oversees university-wide programs which may consist of multiple projects. The position requires a significant amount of
experience in University matters, finance, planning, forecasting and human resources in order to provide direction to a project team (within
the PMO office or matrixed) and resolve project issues.
Responsible for the project lifecycle including project initiation through successful delivery to include implementation and
closure. Participate in portfolio analysis which includes the analysis of costs, resources, timing, realized
benefits, and the interdependencies of multiple projects to determine the optimal mix and sequencing of projects to
best achieve the goals of ITS and the University.
Produce detailed project plans, facilitate the gathering of functional , clearly conveying to
technical resources, coordinating all testing phases, deploying to production and ensuring that any issues are resolved.
Provided work direction to others on the project team to meet the project plan deliverables.
Coach and train project team members on project management processes and best
practices as needed. Facilitate and oversee the mentoring and training of others.
Guide and determine the Project Management training offered to the rest of ITS, partnering with Employee Development.
Mentor and support the growth and development of the more junior Project Managers.
Report key metrics to IT management and stakeholders through status reports,
executive briefings, etc. Manage daily client interaction and sets and manages client expectations.
Maintain and update department and project policies and procedures.
Establish new policies and procedures as well as outline new PMO services and support.
