Position: Project Manager
Location: Dover, DE
Responsible for exhibiting Chesapeake Utilities Corporation’s Mission, Vision and Values, regarding external customers, agencies, vendors, internal departments and co-workers.
The Project Manager will develop and ensure application of project/program management guidelines/policies and guidelines for all Project Managers. This position is responsible for significant, Institute-wide projects, typically with large budgets and sizeable staff, focused on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors, stakeholders etc. This individual will spend the majority of time on project management responsibilities such as leading the design, testing, planning, and implementation of complex projects for systems that typically affect many users. Also, will provide expertise and consulting to project managers in the process of project management and in the softer skills of team dynamics, team building and group motivation. This position will need to demonstrate superior inter-personal skills, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
Develops and ensures application of project/program management guidelines/policies and guidelines for all Project Managers.
Increases the capability of the organization through good practices and a central point of contact for project managers.
Supports project work by equipping the organization with methodologies, standards, processes and tools to enable project managers to better deliver projects.
Experience managing large ERP projects – SAP / Oracle etc.
Experience creating RFQ, Project Charters, Design documents, Functional specs, test plans, cutover and go-live plans.
Represents BIS organization for all projects and serving as an escalation point for issues, risks, stakeholder expectation alignment, business case, resources, finances and project performance.
Manages and monitors project budgets against plan and provides budget / financial updates.
Conduct ongoing portfolio reviews to ensure project priority list is current and relevant.
Improve the planning (develop Effort Estimation models) process by collecting and maintaining data in a consistent form.
Take the lead in ensuring that the project has effective processes in place to identify, monitor and resolve issues and risks.
Provide regular reports to all stakeholders on portfolio and project performance. Works with BIS Leadership Team to drive process and metrics improvements.
Uses basic knowledge of general financial and accounting principles to understand and communicate how decisions affect bottom line for project.
