Overview: This position is responsible for the maintenance, reliability, security, and performance of the College’s Microsoft SQL Server environments and their associated computing resources, along with other enterprise-level databases. The Database Administrator ensures that databases, the associated application servers and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are highly available, technically current and seamlessly integrated. The DBA will work with department and campus colleagues to develop and maintain systems/procedures/applications in support of Augustana’s mission
Responsible for all aspects of database administration including gathering requirements, database management systems (DBMS) architecture design, DBMS installation and configuration, performance monitoring and tuning, database security, data back-up, recovery planning, and capacity planning.
Understands and supports the College’s business processes and applications, including their effect on data and reporting, and applies that knowledge to improve data analytics and reporting systems.
Works with end users in various departments across campus to resolve issues and ensure that database applications are meeting the needs of the end user. Develops reports and custom requests for users as needed and necessary.
Responsible for designing, building, and supporting the components of business intelligence services such as ETL processes, data warehousing, data analytics , and data visualization and reporting tools.
Supports colleagues in the Information Technology Department in the Implementation, maintenance and upgrade of enterprise applications with respect to their underlying database systems and integration with other information systems.
Establishes documentation for procedures and processes required to maintain the integrity and operation of the College's database and reporting systems, and ensures they are continually maintained.
Manage SSIS packages, stored procedures, jobs, PowerShell scripts and other system administration and automation tools
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.
Attends meetings with users and others on campus as new technologies are considered.
Assists other members of the ITS department with key projects or tasks.

Skills & Experience:
3-5 years of related experience. Experience in managing institutional sized data bases highly preferred.
Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, SM SQL< and/or MS Reporting Services
Experience with SSIS, PowerShell, and other automation tools
Ability to use LAMP or other web development tools
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of campus members.
Ability to prioritize work assignments
Excellent problem solving and technical capabilities.
