KPMG's Global Major Projects Advisory focuses on helping clients mitigate issues and negotiate through the maze that is the construction industry. We help support their fundamental business issues - managing schedule, increasing revenues, controlling costs - that organisations, across various industries, should address in order to help them flourish. We help companies to identify and manage risks inherent in business processes and technology systems that support business objectives, and provide them with the information needed to help them meet their strategic and financial goals.
We are currently seeking candidates for our Major Projects Advisory team in our Singapore office.
The responsibilities include:
Review, analyse, and recommend improvements to construction management processes and internal controls;
Conduct construction contract audits, compliance reviews, and project oversight and monitoring functions for large capital projects;
Define and implement recommendations including construction management policies and procedures, processes, internal controls, roles and responsibilities, and project and programme reporting;
Conduct project reviews to evaluate percentage of completion, probability of recovery for change orders and claims, reasonableness of the estimate to complete construction, schedule delays, defective specifications, and loss of productivity;
Work and lead engagement teams to perform field work, including data collection, analysis, and work paper documentation; prepare, edit, and proof read narrative reports and presentations of observations and recommendations;
Carrying out work on Asset Management in the Major Projects team;
Work closely, but independently, under the direction of Directors and Partners; and
Assist with marketing and business development including proposal preparation and building client relationship.
Personality traits leading to a good fit into the team include independence, innovative and resourceful thinking with strong interpersonal, organisational, presentation and report writing skills. A naturally inquisitive mind with an ability to think "outside the box" is preferred. Teamwork, strong project and client management skills are a necessity.
The ideal candidate should have:
Six to eight years working experience in design, construction or project management in transport, power and utilities, infrastructure, healthcare, or public sector projects
Has to have had hands-on experience in construction sector in the region;
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering and Architecture, or a related field from an accredited college/university; professional qualifications are preferred (PE, PEng, CEng, PMP, PMI etc);
Knowledge in various phases of construction including planning and work breakdown structures, pre-construction services, sourcing and procurement of contracts, contract administration, scheduling, cost estimating, quality management, project reporting, and project closeout;
Field construction experience on different project types and public and/or private clients;
Asset Management delivery, including working knowledge of PAS 55 and ISO 55000 series, performing of engagements that involve life-cycle costing models, cost-benefit analysis, conditioning assessments including replacement calculation, knowledge of different AM systems will be beneficial, but not essential to the application;
Experience using various project management tools like MS Project, MS Excel, Primavera P6, Unifier and other toolsets will be beneficial;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a good team player;
Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, records retention and work paper organizational skills; willingness and ability to travel extensively or be based on client's office on a project by project basis; and
Possess strong project management abilities coupled with good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
