Under the direction of the Finance Systems Office, the Business Systems Analyst will provide leadership in the support of the various systems utilized by the Finance Systems Division. This position will troubleshoot and support the financial processing components of the Kuali Financial System (KFS) including General Ledger, Labor Ledger, Chart of Accounts, Procurement, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Capital Assets, and Budget as well as the various integrations with other University systems. This position will work with business owners to develop analyses and specifications for KFS and other applications as required.
As part of the Finance Systems Team, the Business Systems Analyst will work with various members of the University community including both operational and academic areas to understand and solve complex system problems.
Working with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), the Business Systems Analyst will test and propose solutions, changes, and enhancements to the functionality and security of the KFS and other enterprise applications which meet the requirements of the University, match industry best practices, and observe sound financial principles.
The Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for the development of documentation including Functional Specifications, Business Processes, Solution Analysis, Project Plans, etc. It is expected that this position will develop standard templates to be used by all Finance Systems staff and will mentor and guide other staff members in development of strong financial system documentation. As part of the Kuali Community the selected candidate will be expected to participate in community workshops, conferences, and design efforts in order to support the ongoing development of the Kuali Platform.
The Business Systems Analyst will work independently with minimal supervision and at the same time coordinate their activities with other team members. The Business Systems Analyst will be expected to apply a high degree of expertise and advanced knowledge of financial system management and accounting principles to provide top-level user support, coordinate activities between various constituents, and understand the requirements and needs of the University community. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Bachelor's degree in computer or business related field or equivalent combination of training and experience. Evidence of extensive business analysis experience in a large data processing environment. Demonstrated experience in the implementation, upgrading and/or support of large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups in a project team setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extremely high level of leadership, motivation, initiative, independence, and responsibility. High level of interest in researching and working with new computer technologies. Able to work with minimal supervision and direction.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Business or Management related field. Five (5) years or more of business analysis experience. Experience with the Kuali Financial System or equivalent financial ERP. Experience reading, writing and executing SQL. Experience with data warehousing techniques and reporting tools such as WebFOCUS, OBIEE, or equivalent. Knowledge of batch processing/control techniques using tools such as Control-M. Demonstrated experience in process improvement such as Six Sigma or equivalent. Project leadership experience in development and implementation of Financial, Payroll or Travel Applications. Extensive knowledge in at least 2 of the following: Procurement, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Capital Assets, Contracts and Grants, Travel and Entertainment, HR/Payroll. Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint and/or Microsoft Project. Experience working in Higher Education.
