The Apex Systems Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship has a great opportunity for an Outreach & Alumni Coordinator and an Experiential Learning & Student Coordinator. Both opportunities have the same focus but will be working with different target audiences.
The primary objective of these positions is to provide project planning and program management for Apex Systems Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. These positions are responsible for the implementation of programs, conferences, institutes, workshops, symposiums, fundraisers, and other unique offerings. They are also responsible for the following: program budgeting; defining and managing the time-line and scope of services for each project; working with the program coordinator team and all center functional units to oversee project implementation; having responsibility and accountability for each project; negotiating facility agreements and contracts; assessment of program needs and marketing research; and post-program reporting.
Occasional travel required to provide on-site local and out-of-town program support. Occasional weekend, early morning, and late evening work required based on program schedules.
These positions are restricted appointments and continuation of the appointments may be contingent on availability of funding and business needs.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in business or a related field or equivalent training and/or experience in financial, business or hospitality management
Experience with project planning in an academic or corporate setting
Experience developing and financially managing a variety of programs such as events, conferences, workshops and special events
Experience preparing project budget plans to meet stated financial goals
Must have strong computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet navigation and an understanding of social media
Must be able to handle numerous projects and details and prioritize according to needs
Must be a team player and have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and have the ability to manage and handle on-the-spot changes and emergencies in a professional and effective manner
Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in a related field
Advanced experience in project planning and budgeting
Experience with Commonwealth of Virginia and/or university policies and procedures
Certified Program Planner (CPP), Certified Meeting Planner (CMP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) designations
