UW Information Technology is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW.
The Enterprise Information, Integration & Analytics unit (EIIA) within UW-IT provides consistent and reliable architectures, guidelines, standards, tools, and services for data analysis, design, modeling, management, delivery, and integration of institutional data. In addition, the EIIA unit develops and maintains the UW Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and provides information for decision-making through central business intelligence (BI) products and tools.
UW-IT has an outstanding full time opportunity for a Senior Manager.
This position is responsible for establishing the new Change Management team within EIIA. The scope of Change Management includes technical project management, release management, education, training and communications. This position is responsible for building the team as well as managing the portfolio for the unit. Responsibilities include supervising and providing guidance and leadership to senior architects, engineers, analysts and data modelers.
The focus of this position is on the global view of UW institutional data, and the program management and education that supports it. The position is cross-cutting, requiring coordination and liaison to internal team roles as well as external groups to ensure broad data integration and business value for UW.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Library Sciences or equivalent
Minimum of four years' experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks involving technical management in information management environments
Experience managing, leading and developing staff, including providing day-to-day supervision
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Experience with large scale data environments
Experience leading development of end-to-end Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and data integration solutions
Experience with Agile project management
IT background with experience across the systems development life cycle with experience in all program/project phases: plan, initiate, elaborate, design, prototype, build, test, deploy
Program Management experience
Demonstrated advanced project management soft skills, including tolerance for ambiguity, ability to earn the trust of stakeholders, ability to motivate team members, tenacious problem ownership, the ability to deliver bad news gracefully, and a dedication to customer advocacy
Proficiency in JIRA or similar project tracking/issue tracking tool
Ability to negotiate and drive effective decision-making with diverse audiences
Experience at a major research university
