CH2M HILL Senior Project Management Careers - Salt Lake City, Utah

The challenge? Help provide and sustain clean water resources around the world. Our Senior Project Management jobs provide you with an opportunity to work on exciting and large-scale water and water resource projects. Each day, you will be the face of CH2M HILL as you become the lead contact for our clients and take primary responsibility for overall work progress.

As a Conveyance Project Manager you will be responsible for the planning, detailed design, construction and commissioning of large-diameter water conveyance and water treatment facilities. You will have the opportunity to not only utilize and enhance your existing skills but also to work with our national water engineering staff to support our existing and future work in the water, water resources, and wastewater engineering markets. You will serve as a primary contact with clients to ensure that CH2M HILL has a sustained relationship, achieves complete client satisfaction with our work, and fully leverages our relationships to benefit the client and the firm. You will also be responsible for Client Service Management and business development for selected clients and also be responsible to help grow the resources of the firm through coaching of Associate Project Managers, task managers, and design engineers.

You should be a self-motivated professional with 15-years of successful principal project management experience, capable of being a leader in the sales efforts on any project. A Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is desired. Demonstrated expertise and additional water treatment experience is preferred. A solid practicing/working knowledge of large-diameter water conveyance facilities is required. Your project management and business development experience with local clients will contribute to your success. You should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a cooperative, team-oriented attitude and a desire to grow professionally as well as personally with each project management job.


Our Senior Project Managers:


  • Provide direction to 25+ professional staff

  • Advise the client on costs for changes and additional work inaugurated by the client

  • Direct business and technical operations, ensure quality performance, coordinate project deliverables and sponsor technical reviews

  • Plan, staff, schedule, budget, coordinate subcontractors and internal support, and assure quality as well as safety

  • Provide business management and administrative direction of the project including EPCM contractual commitment, coordination of schedules and budgets and office administration during construction, as well as client contact through the entire project

  • Lead the identification of variances from the above and the development of solutions as well as initiate corrective action

  • Are responsible for successful completion of complex projects with multiple phases and/or construction contracts

  • Provide briefs as required to assure higher levels of management are informed of project status

  • Evaluate performance of project engineers

  • Use extreme care to avoid exceeding contractual scope of work and avoid incurring additional costs

  • Assure compliance with the scope of work and design criteria

  • Are responsible for scope development/management; development and control of budgets, schedules, and will have P&L accountability

  • Are responsible for positive cash management

  • Identify and evaluate risk that may impact the project

  • Put effective contingency plans in place to handle potential problems



Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field

  • PE license

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience with water/wastewater conveyance projects

  • Project management and business development experience with local clients required
