Our Project Management career path provides you with opportunities to work on exciting and large-scale water resource projects. Each day, you will conduct planning and design activities as you ensure quality of projects and efficiency of project delivery. As a Fluvial Geomorphologist, you will engage in the investigation, design and construction of a wide range of water and related resources projects including river restoration, fish passage, flood management, stormwater management, water and sediment budgets, and water quality. Representative projects include restoration of rivers for endangered species habitat, recreation and water quality and watershed assessment/planning. The successful candidate will possess broad competency within the general fields of water resources, hydrology and hydraulics, and will also demonstrate significant depth of knowledge in fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, stream ecology, aquatic biology, or limnology. Demonstrated expertise in the development and application of multi-dimensional hydraulic and sediment transport models to solve practical water management challenges is essential. Your business development skills, experience in the Pacific Northwest, and knowledge of fish passage analysis and design, conveyance system design, FEMA mapping, CAD, and GIS will be the perfect fit. An MS in engineering, hydrology, geology, or related science is required. Your reputation as a team player, with personal initiative and willingness to put in the extra time and effort when you identify it as needed is highly valued. A PE as well as a demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and knowledge of the current state of science/literature in geomorphology, sediment transport, and restoration fields is a plus. You should have strong writing and speaking skills as well as the desire to grow personally and professionally with each project management job.
Our Fluvial Geomorphologists:
- Manage a staff as well as plan, direct and coordinate activities related to complex and/or large contracts.
- Propose marketing initiatives and develop and execute plans to obtain new business for the water resources practice while promoting client satisfaction.
- Work directly with a team of engineers and biologists specializing in stream restoration.
- Conduct field work including the collection of field geomorphic and ecological data.

Qualifications: MS in engineering, hydrology, geology, or related science Coursework and practical experience in fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, and associated hydraulic and sediment transport modeling, including the use of multi-dimensional models Ability to combine field and modeling experience to design projects with an understanding of how the channel will respond to the implementation of stream restoration actions and the potential implications of the response on aquatic species and habitat At least 3 years experience in the private sector or comparable public sector experience Ability to lead field teams conducting stream channel surveying, fish habitat assessments, and fluvial geomorphic assessments (identification of sediment sources and characteristics, transport processes, aquatic habitat, etc.)
